Helen Genevieve Manley, 92, formerly of Springville, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at New Homestead Care Center in Guthrie Center following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Karen Downey Beals. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Coggon Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell; her daughter, Karen (Charles) Hawley of Panora; her son, Ron (Ruth) Manley of Cody, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Todd (Fran) Hawley, Tim (Rosanna) Hawley, Jyl (Cliff) Willoughby, Debra (Paul) Lemke, Jennifer (Jim) Berguson, Kristin Manley, and Nathan Manley; a brother, Don (Dorothy) Williams of Cedar Rapids; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Helen was born March 5, 1915, the daughter of Harley and Mary Ellen (Patton) Williams in Coggon. On June 12, 1938, she married Darrell Manley in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Springville Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women?s Circle. When in their own home, she enjoyed visiting with friends, tending to the house and flowers and eating out. She always hoped to live to have at least one great-grandchild and she had nine and this summer, three step-great-grandchildren. While at the New Homestead, she enjoyed the activities there, going on van rides, and out with family.
