Gerald C. “Jerry” Kula, 84, of Central City, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by Father Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends from 4 - 8 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Prairieburg.

Survivors include his 6 children, Greg (Jan) Bressler of Independence, Patricia (Mark) Grant of Martelle; Chris (Kristin) Kula of Mt. Vernon, Jason (KaLynn) Kula of Central City, Connie (Steve) Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, and Cindy (Mark) Garvey of Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren, a new great-granddaughter, and his 2 dogs, Jimmy & Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willo; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Jerry was born November 4, 1924, the son of Frank and Anna (Houser) Kula, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Willo (Price) Bressler on December 29, 1961 in Dubuque. Jerry was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a loyal member of the Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He loved his family, fishing, hunting, playing cards, and riding around the farm on his golf cart with his favorite dogs. Jerry will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
