Faith Remi Haines, 95, a resident of Rock Ridge Care Center, Shellsburg, Iowa, formerly of Center Point, died there Saturday, April 16, 2011. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the United Methodist Church, in Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include her daughters, Twilah (Tom) Kaldenberg of Albia and Linda Parker of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Ken Rick of Vinton; grandchildren, Monica (Jeff) Svoboda, Lynette (Bob) Houdashelt, Brad (Tammy) Rick, Tim (Cindy) Kaldenberg and Tyson (Heidi) Kaldenberg. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Caleb and Ariana Svoboda, Lukas, Kelsey, Johanna and Nicole Rick, Makenzie and Cody Houdashelt and Layne, Lauren, Olivia and Stella Kaldenberg.
Faith was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents; daughter, Marcia Rick; son-in-law, Craig Parker; and two brothers, Carroll and Randall Appleton.
Born December 16, 1915, in Wood Center, Iowa, Faith was the daughter of Otto and Floy (Rouse) Appleton. She completed 8th grade at the age of 11, high school at the age of 15 and graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1932, at the age of 17. She taught in rural Iowa schools before her marriage. On May 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to Roy Haines. He died in 1998. For most of her life she lived in rural Center Point.
Faith was a member of the United Methodist Church in Center Point.
