Donald J. Keenan, 70, of Delhi, Iowa, died Sunday, January 10, 2016. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Bohnenkamp - Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with a 6:00 p.m. Scripture Service. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Delhi, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Masonville, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja of Delhi; a son, Keith (Ann) Keenan of Iowa City; grandsons, Cody and Colton Keenan; siblings, Aggie (Jim) Doyle of Cedar Rapids, Mary Jo Munkel, Webster Grove, Missouri, Jerry (Dawn) Keenan and Richard (Terese) Keenan both of Manchester, and Ellen “Katie” Gish, Andover, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Lori Sands of Hopkinton; seven nephews and four nieces; and his faithful companion, Webster.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and father and mother-in-law.
Donald was born July 9, 1945, to Joseph and Mae (Miller) Keenan, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a graduate of Manchester High School, Upper Iowa University, and was employed as a pipefitter. Don also served in the United States Navy, and the U.S. Navy Reserve as a chief machinist. On November 28, 1968, Don married Sonja Turner at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Don was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, and playing with his dog, Webster. He was a man of all trades.
