Donald “Don” Joseph Knepper, 70, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a Memorial Service to follow at 6 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Don was born on October 19, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Norbert J. and Mary Lou (Wright) Knepper. On November 20, 2004, Don was united in marriage to Sandra Lynn McGowan. Don was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 89. He enjoyed cooking, especially pizza, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Don is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 19 years, Sandy Knepper of Anamosa; daughter, Dawn (Abe) Kousheh of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Kevin and Cody Knepper, both of Anamosa; step-children, Scott (Robin) Hunter of Marshall, Missouri, Candice (Jim) Becker of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Chad (Kari) Hunter of Cedar Rapids, Jamie (Nick) Schadler of Dyersville, Iowa, and Brandon (Molly) Hunter of Monticello, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Debra (Doug) Adamson of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Donna Novak (Rick Wilson) of Toddville, Iowa; two brothers, Douglas (Debbie) Knepper and Dale (Raemee) Knepper, both of Kansas City, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Joan Ellis-Knepper of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dennis Knepper; and two grandchildren, Diamond and Donald Hunter.
