Colleen Jensen, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on October 5, 2017, in her home. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2017, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Colleen was born on December 7, 1933, in Lacona, Iowa, daughter of Rolly and Frances (Endres) Dittmer. She graduated from Waukee High School. Colleen worked at Brenton Bank in Adel, Iowa, before marrying Harry on September 19, 1959, in Waukee, Iowa. She was a stay at home wife before the couple owned and operated Jensen Food Center, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. After they sold the grocery store, she worked at J.C. Penny’s. She was a member at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Colleen enjoyed playing cards, flower gardening and dog sitting, Charlie. She will be remembered for her exceptional homemade cookies and treats. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Jensen of Cedar Rapids; children, Michael Jensen of Cedar Rapids, David Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Cindy) Jensen of Albany, New York, Theresa (Paul) Marlow of Cedar Rapids and Daniel Jensen of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jenna (Ben) Busch, Mark and Davis Jensen and Elizabeth Marlow; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Katelyn and Kason Busch; siblings, Marcus (Iona) Dittmer and Ann Forret; and sister-in-law, Joyce Dittmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Wilbert Dittmer, Lawrence Dittmer and Rita Ceaser.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Colleen’s honor.
