Charles Archibald, 79, of Central City, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Family will greet friends Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City and Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at a Celebration of Life at the American Legion in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; his children, Joyce (Mark) Howe and Raymond (Jennifer) Archibald; his grandchildren, Paige, Branden, Mary, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Addison, Hailey, Alexis, Emily, Brianna; brothers-in-law, Marvin Tapken, Herb Carson, Jim (Sue) Caswell; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Dave) Walshire, and Ruth Archibald.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul Archibald, and sister, Janet Tapken; sister-in-law, Dorothy Carson.
Charles was born December 23, 1935, to Edmond and Rose Archibald. After graduating high school, he married his wife Wilma Caswell on September 9, 1956, in Anamosa, Iowa. Charles was a volunteer firefighter for 30 years and was a member of the NRA. He was employed at Quaker Oats for 42 years. Charles enjoyed camping, traveling, the Iowa Hawkeyes, was a Chicago Cubs fan, and loved John Deere tractors.
