Carol L. Bennington (Shepherd)

Carol Bennington, 62, of Oelwein, formerly of Volga, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, following a lengthy illness. The family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Danne; her children, Scott Bennington of Oelwein, Bonnie (Don) Grommon of Cedar Rapids, Terry Bennington of Oelwein, and Richard Bennington of Sheldon; four grandchildren, Brian, Zach, Cody and Jesse; a brother, David Shepherd of Colorado; and three sisters, Pat (Lynn) Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Sharon Doty of Ames and Kathy Shepherd of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ronald, who died in infancy, Donald, Lorraine and Larry; and one sister, Marilyn.
Carol was born March 12, 1945, the daughter of Alvin and Doris (Draper) Shepherd, in Murray, Iowa. On May 23, 1964, she was united in marriage to Danne Lee Bennington, in Kahoka, Missouri.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Carol.
