Brian was born on May 19, 1984, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Denise (Stainbrook) Barkdoll. He was a 2002 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend Coe College. On October 6, 2012, Brian was united in marriage to Tasha Washburn at the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. In his early years, Brian worked in car sales and detailing cars, eventually becoming the owner of Economy Auto Repair in Marion.
He enjoyed his job, selling cars, going to car auctions with his business partners, Craig and Gary, and his lunch dates with his mom. Brian also enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. His favorite movies were Christmas Vacation and Back to the Future. Brian was a good football player and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed being with friends and family. Brian enjoyed hanging out with his dad, spending many hours remodeling the shop. He was a great brother to his sisters, always watching over them and protecting them. Brian and Tasha enjoyed spending time together with their neighbors Tom and Carolyn, watching the Hawkeye football games on the projector screen, grilling, fire pits, and setting off fireworks for the 4th of July. They loved watching movies, gardening, Tasha's cooking, dance parties with the boys, and just being by each other’s side. Brian was Tasha’s teammate, her “Mr. Mom”. Brian’s greatest love was his family, especially his three boys. They were always by his side, whether it be playing sports, enjoying tractor rides around the neighborhood, or best of all, going to hotels as a family to get the best room and go swimming. Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Brian is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nine years, Tasha Barkdoll and their three sons, Nash, Rolyan, and Boston all of Marion; parents, John and Denise Barkdoll of Marion; two sisters, Katie (Adam) Fryman and Kellie (Spencer) Pflughaupt both of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and grandparents, Denny (Donna) Stainbrook of Brandon, Iowa and Max Gildersleeve of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Delores Gildersleeve; and grandfather, Jerry Barkdoll.
