Anthony Joseph Brancato, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Merchantville, New Jersey, died Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Private family services will be held. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Anthony was born November 30, 1942, in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Anthony and Jennie (DiMattesa) Brancato. He graduated from Camden High School and went on to attend Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his master’s degree in education. Anthony volunteered with the Peace Corps from 1966-69 in the Philippines. He was united in marriage to Linda Lee Landolt on January 14, 1977, in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Anthony worked for the Camden Board of Education in New Jersey until his retirement in 2007. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hiking and nature in his younger years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda Brancato; son, Adam Brancato; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and John Wasson; and grandson, Jaxon Ring.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Salvatore Brancato.
