Andy Holmes, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Jay Jentink. Visitation: 1 p.m. to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his children, Debra O’Neil, Andy Holmes, Jr. and Edward Holmes; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester (Kit) Holmes; four sisters, Lina Chase, Mary Ross, Ruth Dietz and Minnie (Bill) Bullock; and several nieces and nephews.
Andy was born February 6, 1928, the son of Lester and Lilly (Hall) Holmes, in Atkins, Iowa. He married Linda Maire on February 6, 1992. Andy worked for Midland Forge as a press operator, retiring after 34 ½ years of service.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Andy.
