Alice McConnell, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 28, 2015, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1900 F Ave NW Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52405, conducted by Pastor Dan Wiersema. The family will greet friends 5-7p.m Monday, July 27, 2015, at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Ricky (Becky) McConnell of Texas; grand-daughter, Shannon (Clayton) Skoog of Hawaii; great-grand-daughter, Brighton Skoog of Hawaii; sister, Merle Loney of Cedar Rapids; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; daughter, Susan; brothers, George, Dan, Melvin and Glenn Floyd; sisters, Elma Wilson, Thelma Davis and Florence Pleyte.
Alice was born April 21, 1930 in rural Linn County, daughter of Leo and Sadie (Andrews) Floyd. She married Kenneth McConnell on March 7, 1959 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a manager at Woolsworth, waitress at Killians and a sales clerk at Jack’s and Younkers. She enjoyed sewing her own clothing and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for decades.
