Patricia A. Schmidt, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Grand Living Nursing Home. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at, 857 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lunch will follow the Mass. Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Patricia was born on April 8, 1933, in Tama County, the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Sevcik) Rebik. On November 11, 1950, Patricia was united in marriage to Virgil J. Schmidt in Tama, Iowa. He died in 2012. She was a Master Gardener, an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids. Patricia and her husband were instrumental in establishing the Mid Iowa Workshop in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was a great baker and cook, loved to sew, especially quilting. Patricia enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, including abroad, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Patricia is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Douglas (Jodi) Schmidt of Libertyville, Illinois, Craig (Leslie) Schmidt of Cedar Rapids, Rodney (Mig) Schmidt of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Elisa (Mark) Lewis of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren, Sasha Hoppenworth, Derick Roby, Mary Elizabeth Roby, Casey (Cady) Schmidt, Tanner (Brittany) Schmidt, Brady Schmidt, Hunter (Diana) Schmidt, Benjamin Schmidt, Adelin Schmidt, Francesca (Phil) Reiman, Elena (Tyler) Huber, Kenzy (Ethan) Benton, and Elliott Lewis (fiancé, Kelly Olsen); 17 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Maecy, Everett, Teagan, Harper, Everly, Madison, Rocco, Bella, Hunter Jr., Annabel, Emilia, William, Emmeline, Clara, Margot, and Leia; son-in-law, William Roby of Stuart, Florida; and sister, Carolyn (Ron) Meisner of Longmont, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Laurie Roby; son, Gary Schmidt; and brother, Loren Rebik.
