James “Jim” D. Scholl, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Gathering for Friends: 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Deb; step-daughter, Deidre Belcher of Fairfax, Iowa; brother, Sid Scholl of LaPorte, Texas; two dogs, Riley and Yankee Doodle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy Scholl.
Jim was born on January 24, 1948, in Bagley, Minnesota, son of Wilmer and Mary (Flaws) Scholl. He served in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Jim and Deb Kirkey were united in marriage in Belle Plaine, Iowa, on December 31, 1976. He worked for the Local 263, as a sheet metal worker. Jim was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, gardening, cutting firewood, horseback/trail riding, leather working and motorcycles.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the relatives, St. Luke’s Hospice, Ghosh Center and friends who have helped and cared for Jim during this time.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
