Marlys Garrettson, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, with visitation 30 minutes prior at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Rev. Mark Ortgies will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Marlys was born February 17, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ruth Derringer Mitchel. In April of 1947, she married Harold Martin Garrettson. He passed away on June 25, 2013. Marlys was a minister and was a member of the Open Bible Church for over 45 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Burke of Mission Viejo, California; grandchildren, Kristin Marsh, Kara Schwab, Tim Burke and Peter Burke; 11 great-grandchildren; and her half-sisters, Pat Eyerly and Peggy Lee.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
